Today’s featured barndo on Barndominium Life is Sean Deaver’s East Texas barndominium. This home has a simple elegance and a straightforward design that really shows just how interesting and unique an uncomplicated home can be. While the outside may have the look of a traditional metal pole structure, the interior has a feeling and design all its own. We can’t wait to show you just how many surprises are in store once you set foot in this amazingly constructed barndominium in Texas.

Exterior

One of the things we really love about this East Texas barndominium is the simplicity and the fact that it fits in with the surrounding landscape absolutely perfectly. There is nothing about the exterior of this home that contrasts with the area it is built and we feel that this gives it a real sense of place in the world. This is one of the important things to think about when building a barndominium. How will it look up against the backdrop of where you have chosen to build it?

Something that really stands out about this home is the intricate stonework that lines the bottom third of the exterior. This is something this entire East Texas barndominium does incredibly well. It utilizes different textures and materials without looking like a mish-mash of too many contrasting elements. This is a difficult balance to strike and we think the designers of this barndo have done an excellent job creating something perfectly in sync.

Interior

Living Room

The outside of this East Texas barndominium may be simple and heavy on the pole barn look, but the inside of it is all elegance and excellent design. This is one of the great things about a barndominium. You never know what you are going to see once you’re inside and the results are always incredibly surprising and unique. By having these plain types of buildings and being able to build them out beautifully inside, you can really create some fantastic effects upon walking in.

The loft-style floor plan is something that we always love to see with a barndo and this East Texas barndominium has made excellent use of it. The reason the loft is such a great option is because metal pole barns usually have such a large amount of upward space. The high ceilings and vaulted roofs allow for a lot of space utilization above the ground floor. By making sure this space is fully taken advantage of, designers can create something really unique and that is exactly what has happened here.

One of the main accent pieces of the interior of this East Texas barndominium is the spiral staircase. This is such a great, functional way to put something in a home that is both classic and completely modern. Coupling this staircase with the black panelling of the walls and matching the steps to the hardwood that covers the flooring in the rest of this barndo is an excellent design choice. It is a great example of using coordination to create a look that feels cohesive and complete.

The interior of this East Texas barndominium has so many fantastic design choices and one of our favorites is this patterned hearth. With the fireplace underneath and the television located above the beautifully finished mantle shelf, this is a great choice that really brings some of the excellent tasteful elements of the rest of the home with some unique patterns and interesting tile work. This barndominium is full of these little accent pieces that coincide perfectly with the matching coherence of the rest of the home.

Kitchen

The way the kitchen is located underneath the loft of the second floor is a top-notch layout choice and something that really brings the whole of the home together. It creates this completely unique, separate space that is perfect for entertaining and keeping a functional area for the cooking to be done. By pulling this room back away from the living area and separating it, the designers of this East Texas barndominium were able to fully take advantage of all the square footage.

Just like the rest of this East Texas barndominium, the bedrooms are full of interesting, tasteful choices that both save space and elevate the look of the rooms. One of the most glaring examples of this is the beds that fold up into the built-in shelving units. This is one of the best ways to save space and create a much more open room when the beds themselves aren’t being used.

It’s no surprise that the bathroom in this East Texas barndominium is just as intricately designed and looked after as the rest of the home. We love the simple tile work happening in this shower and how it brings the whole room together. The black hardware and multi-shaded tile create a fantastic feel that is both simple and effective at the same time. That is a major theme with this barndominium and we absolutely love it.
